a - base model

d - duplex printing

f - Lexmark wireless network designation and mobile printing on hp models

f - fax

n - network printer (with cable)

w - wireless network

x - optional paper tray for Canon models


Example: HP Color LaserJet MFP M477fnw Printer: this 3v1 printer has f-fax, n-cable network, w-wireless
